Hair Density
For people experiencing thinning hair, hair density treatment can help create the illusion of thicker, fuller hair. The process involves carefully implanting tiny dots of pigment into the scalp to create the appearance of a denser head of hair. This is done using a specialized needle and pigment that matches your hair color and skin tone. The result is a natural-looking hairline and the appearance of increased hair density.
Baldness
Scalp micro pigmentation is a great option for those who are bald or experiencing significant hair loss. The process involves creating the appearance of hair follicles on the scalp using a specialized needle and pigment. This helps to create the illusion of a shaved head or short hair, giving the appearance of a full head of hair.
Alopecia
Alopecia is a medical condition that causes hair loss. Scalp micro pigmentation can help create the appearance of hair follicles on the scalp, making it a great solution for those with alopecia. The process involves implanting tiny dots of pigment into the scalp using a specialized needle and pigment that matches your hair color and skin tone. This helps to create the appearance of a full head of hair, boosting confidence and self-esteem.
Hair Line Recreated
For those who are experiencing hair loss around the hairline, scalp micro pigmentation can help recreate a natural-looking hairline. The process involves implanting tiny dots of pigment into the scalp using a specialized needle and pigment that matches your hair color and skin tone. The result is a natural-looking hairline that blends seamlessly with any remaining natural hair.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Scalp Micropigmentation
Lifestyle Hair Studios offers Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), a non-surgical hair loss solution that involves depositing pigments into the scalp to simulate the appearance of natural hair follicles. This procedure can create a new hairline, provide the look of a closely-shaved full head of hair, and add density to thinning hair. SMP is also effective in camouflaging scarring from previous hair transplant surgeries and can enhance the visual impact of a hair transplant. It is a versatile solution that can restore the appearance of a full head of hair even for those with complete baldness due to conditions such as alopecia. Additionally, SMP can make thin hair appear substantially thicker by concealing the scalp, resulting in the perception of increased hair volume.
Does Scalp Micropigmentation look real?
At Lifestyle Hair Studios, our highly skilled practitioners are known for delivering incredibly lifelike results with Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP). Clients often express that when examining their appearance up close in the mirror, they struggle to distinguish between their actual hair follicles and the SMP treatment. This level of realism is a testament to the expertise and precision of our practitioners in achieving natural-looking outcomes.
What is the durability of the results achieved through Scalp Micropigmentation?
Scalp Micropigmentation is considered a long-lasting solution. While the initial results are indeed permanent, it’s possible for the pigments to gradually lighten over the years. To maintain the desired appearance, we advise scheduling a brief touch-up session every 3-6 years.
How long does scalp micropigmentation take?
The Scalp Micropigmentation process is typically divided into three sessions. The duration of a standard session varies from 1 to 4 hours, depending on the extent of the treatment area. The first and second sessions are spaced one week apart, followed by a third session one month later.
How do you choose the right color?
To achieve an ideal color match and seamless blend with your natural hair, both color and density are progressively enhanced across three sessions. During the initial session, we begin with a slightly lighter shade and make fine-tuned adjustments in the subsequent sessions to attain the desired outcome.
How is the hairline design determined in Scalp Micropigmentation, and what options do clients have for customizing its appearance?
The hairline design is a very personal choice. A hairline design is drawn on before each session starts, your practitioner will guide and work closely with you to ensure you get the exact hairline you want. You can decide exactly how soft & natural or sharp & defined the hairline is.
How does Scalp Micropigmentation differ from conventional tattoos, and why is it essential for practitioners to have specialized training in SMP?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a highly specialized procedure, distinguished by its unique techniques, machinery, needles, and pigments, which differ significantly from those employed in conventional tattoos. It’s important to note that an SMP practitioner is not equipped to carry out a regular tattoo, and conversely, a traditional tattoo artist cannot perform Scalp Micropigmentation. Regrettably, we have encountered instances where untrained tattooists attempted to conduct SMP treatments without the requisite expertise.
Does Scalp Micropigmentation changes color?
The pigment we use for treatment is designed just for Scalp Micropigmentation hair tattoos, it does not change colour like a regular tattoo. The colour will get lighter over the years, but will not change colour after any period of time.
What will my appearance be like post-treatment?
You will notice immediate, visible results, including your new hairline. Shortly after each session, there might be some temporary redness, typically lasting for about 24 hours. Over the course of three sessions, we incrementally enhance hair density and make subtle refinements to color and the shape of your hairline to achieve the ideal outcome.
Is shaving necessary for a standard SMP hair tattoo, and what's the recommended shaving length for a natural look?
Typically, yes, shaving is required for a standard SMP hair tattoo, with a recommended length of 0.5-grade or shorter for a natural look, but personal preferences are considered.
Can scalp micropigmentation work for long hair?
Scalp Micropigmentation can work on long hair to give the appearance of thicker hair if you have enough remaining hair. A thickening treatment works the same as on a shaved head by mimicking the appearance of hair follicles so that less of the scalp is visible. If there is not enough remaining hair for the treatment to blend with, we may advise that you would need to shave.
Does SMP work for women?
Indeed, Scalp Micropigmentation is highly effective for women with thin or thinning hair. It conceals the scalp, reducing the visibility of skin and creating the illusion of thicker and fuller hair.
Can you cover scars?
Absolutely, Scalp Micropigmentation is a suitable option for concealing various types of hair transplant scars, including Strip, Punch, and FUE procedures, allowing you the flexibility to wear your hair as short as you prefer. Additionally, this technique can not only camouflage scars but also improve the overall results of your transplant by increasing the density of thin or thinning hair.

Is SMP safe?
Yes it is totally safe and non-invasive. The treatment only goes half as deep into the skin as a regular tattoo. We have never seen any adverse effects due to a hair tattoo.

Does Scalp Micropigmentation, a non-surgical procedure resembling a tattoo, have any impact on real hair follicles or the risk of hair loss?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical procedure, similar to a traditional tattoo, and it does not impact real hair follicles, thus posing no risk of causing hair loss.
Does SMP hurt?
No, for most of our clients the pain is minimal and described as a lot less painful than a regular tattoo. No pain medication is needed and any discomfort is only during the actual Scalp Micropigmentation hair tattoo treatment.
Is Scalp Micropigmentation a reversible procedure, and what distinguishes its removal process from that of traditional tattoos?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a reversible procedure, although we’ve never had a customer request removal so far. The removal process is comparable to traditional tattoo removal. However, Scalp Micropigmentation is situated in the second dermal skin layer, which is only half as deep as a regular tattoo, making it significantly easier to remove. It typically takes just two laser sessions to completely eliminate Scalp Micropigmentation. This flexibility allows clients the option to make changes to their hairline over time, such as softening it or slightly receding, as they age.
